Surgical and Dentistry Services

One of the tools that has really made a difference for our patients is our Surgical Laser. The laser decreases bleeding, pain, infection, swelling, and recovery times. We have found this instrument to be particularly helpful with our cat declaws, soft palate surgeries, oral surgery, reproductive surgery and cancer surgery (tumor removals). It is also very useful when removing small growths and masses with local anesthesia, allowing us to avoid general anesthesia in many cases.

The risks with anesthesia are significantly decreased at Red Hills Animal Hospital due to our monitoring capabilities while your pet is under anesthesia. We routinely monitor your pets heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood oxygen levels while it is under anesthesia. When necessary, we also have the ability to do continuous EKG monitoring.

We further decrease risks associated with anesthesia by requiring an IV catheter with most anesthetic procedures. This helps maintain blood pressure, flush the anesthetics from the body, and offer immediate access for the administration of medications in the event of complications. We also offer and recommend blood work prior to any anesthetic procedure.

The following is a list of some of the surgical procedures that we perform most often. This is not a comprehensive list.
